6 month checkup

So we went to the doctor today for his 6 month checkup.  Everything is great and he is meeting all milestones and exceeding a few (what can I say, I´m a proud mama).
So here are a few of the things Santiago is doing now:
-Moving objects from one hand to the other
-Lots of smiling and cooing
-Everything goes into his mouth
-Sitting up unsupported
-Scooting everywhere (he has been banned from all couches and beds)
-Eating solids and actually has started opening wide enough so it´s not a complete mess

Here are the stats from today
20 lbs. 2 oz.
29.5 inches

The doctor said he just shy of a typical one year old...aahhhh!  He likes for his one year olds to be 22 lbs and 30 inches.  Well I´m going to try to get a video posted of Santiago crawling but that may be awhile.  I´m usually chasing after him, taking things away since this is so unexpected that we haven´t baby proofed anything yet.

Sunday night at the driving range

We spent Sunday evening at the driving range.  Isabela and I played putt-putt.  It was the fastest round I´ve ever played.  Let´s just say she had her own set of rules.  Then we headed over to hit a few balls with daddy and some friends.  Isabela was a little shy at first to  hit in front of everyone but once she got lined up correctly she did a pretty good job.  It was a really nice night and the weather was great.  It finally cooled down to around 75.

Santiago is sitting for the first time in grass.  He wasn´t really sure what to think.
This isn´t from today but found it while getting tonight´s pictures ready and couldn´t resist.  I was cleaning up the kitchen and heard him grunting on the other side.  Needless to say, this is how I found him.  Too cute!!!
Isabela getting the hang of things.

After about 10 swings or so, she decided rolling down the hill was much more entertaining.

Our last week!

Our week has been pretty usual.  Here are just some cute and funny pics...

We were on our way home from the gym and it was awfully quiet in the backseat.  I thought everyone had fallen asleep but they were truly enjoying one another´s company.  They rode the whole way home holding hands like this and I have seen it several times since.  I think it´s about the cutest thing ever.

This one is in the childcare facility at the gym.  All the kids like to wear these boxes on their heads like hats.  One of the other little boys decided that Santiago needed one too.  Santiago totally went along with it!

We spotted a big, beautiful rainbow on the way to ballet the other day!

Emily´s wedding in Banff

Well one of the reasons I haven´t posted much lately is due to the fact that Miguel and I escaped to go to Emily Aldern´s wedding in Canada.  It was in Banff, Alberta which is this little mountain town inside a national park.  For a lack of a better adjective, it was amazing...just a little cold for my blood.  Anyway, Friday when we got there we went to a wedding rehearsal without the rehearsal.  Well we practiced drinking if that counts.  We enjoyed some great Indian food and caught up and reminisced about old times.  I got to sleep in while Miguel went golfing on Saturday (what a treat for both of us).  We joined all the family and friends for a picnic at the park next to the river.  Saturday night we got a little rowdy at a pub in town.  Sunday was the big day and we woke up to snow!!  It was beautiful and Emily handled it like a true champ.  It continued to rain for most of the day but finally let up for the ceremony.  We had a truly wonderful, memorable time.  We enjoyed the company of all their family and friends and wish Emily and Johan a long, happy life together.
On the balcony of the penthouse party Friday night.  Emily has a great shot but by the time we got there the fog and rain had taken over.
Me, Emily, and Kelly
Miguel got to go golfing on Saturday morning.  He was so excited.  The course is very famous and the scenery is spectacular.
Hole 4.  He was so excited.  It´s supposed to be the best hole 4 in the world (at least according to his golf books).

That´s our hotel at the top of the hill.  Everything was so breathtaking.
Trying to stay in the sun at the picnic.
On the bridge that crosses into town.
The happy couple Saturday night at the pub.
We went ghost hunting in our hotel with some newly made friends (Johan´s cousin, brother, and sister in law).  Our hotel is supposedly haunted by a headless bride in a spiral staircase.  Also a bellman is known to be ¨seen¨on the property.
On that special day.  Emily looks so beautiful.
The kiss that seals the deal.
At the reception...

Emily and Johan making the final toast.  Lots of tears, laughter, and love throughout the night.
I wish I had a better pic but Emily and I are enjoying our Cristal.  We had joked about it forever and she pulled through for us.

Our little ballerina!

Isabela had her first ballet/tap class last Thursday.  She was so excited.  She could barely contain herself before class, but surprisingly she calmed down once class started.  She kept asking the lady at the front desk if it was time yet.  She had lots of fun but I think she thought she was going to be a prima donna after one class.  We´ll see how excited she is to go back this week...that´ll be the true answer of how much fun she had.  I really like the program because it´s pretty relaxed.  Some of the schools around here can get pretty strict, even to the point of a specific leotard, tights, and shoes and absolutely no talking during class.  I wanted to make her first dance experience a fun, positive one.  She has a whole lifetime to be serious!  After class we took the girls to this awesome organic restaurant that has a fun little play area next to the patio seating.  Anyway, hopefully next week I´ll remember my camera and get some videos.

Lulu and Isabela!  They are such great friends and were so excited to be dancing together.
All putting their hands in for a job well done!

Tough day being a princess!!

Who said being a princess isn´t tough??? Here are some sweet pics after a long day of dress up!

I love my peas!

We have started Santiago on solids and he seems to be doing fairly well.  He wasn´t crazy about the rice cereal at first and then I added some fruit and it was a hit.  I know it´s one of things once you do there´s no going back but I think it´s okay.  So far we´ve liked apples, bananas, pears, sweet potatoes and peas.  We´ve just added veggies but he LOVED those peas.  He couldn´t get enough.  He´s pretty messy but it´s nothing compared to Isabela´s eating as a baby.  By the way, Isabela was the photographer for the little shoot!!!
